Eastern Prairie Veterinary Service - Dr. Nanci LM Richards, DVM

 Eastern Prairie Veterinary Service is a mobile practice providing routine and emergency care, with a focus on large animal species.


Licensed in both Illinois and Indiana, Dr. Nanci Richards provides veterinary services for alpacas, llamas, horses, goats, sheep, camels, cattle, pigs and more. 


Dr. Richards also provides wellness exams and vaccinations for on-the-farm dogs and cats, along with end-of-life care. 

Services

  • Individual and Herd/Flock Preventative Care – exams, vaccinations, health screening, etc.
  • Certificated of Veterinary Inspection – intrastate, interstate and international
  • Field Emergency Care & Surgery –  dystocias, C-sections, lacerations, colic, and more
  • Reproductive Examinations and Treatment – ultrasound, diagnostic testing  and treatment
  • Large Animal Castrations
  • Pre-Purchase Examinations
  • Laboratory – blood/serum testing, fecals, cytology... (Coggins, Fecal Egg Counts, etc.)
  • Pharmacy – if not available with me at the time, many products can be direct shipped to you
  • End of Life Care (humane euthanasia) for both small and large animals

About Eastern Prairie Veterinary Service & Dr. Richards

Eastern Prairie Veterinary Service is the result of the dreams of veterinarian, Dr. Nanci Richards. After 20 years in agricultural sales, Dr. Richards attended veterinary school at the University of Illinois. She then proceeded to open Eastern Prairie Veterinary Service to fill the need for an independent large animal veterinarian, headquartered in east central Illinois.

   Dr. Richards understands many of the challenges that owners/producers face. She strives to provide excellence in veterinary care, tailored to your farm/ranch goals.   Additionally, Dr. Richards has a special interest in the medicine of camelids, both New World and Old World.   She is  also  a CAMELIDynamics Senior Consultant and Veterinary Advisor.

 Having grown up with horses and beef cattle, Dr. Richards and her husband, Marc, have their own small livestock farm which include a sheep flock, working Border Collies, llamas, alpacas and Clydesdale horses in rural St. Joseph, IL.   Dr. Richards is a member of several veterinary organizations, including the AVMA,   AAEP and AASRP.

Calling ahead to book your appointment helps to ensure that enough time is scheduled to provide the best service possible for you and your animals needs. 


Emergency service are offered at all hours, based on Dr. Richards availability. 


In fact, day or night, emergencies will always receive top priority and, for this reason, an occasional delay is possible - thank you for understanding.


Payment Information

FULL PAYMENT IS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.  


For your convenience cash, checks and major credit cards (Master Card, Visa) are accepted.  (Credit cards will incur an additional 4% fee)
